Anne de Vries stages a miniature open-air hardstyle (Techno) event as a kind of diorama, with a fully functional miniature stage complete with sound system and light show. The infrastructure even includes an advertising campaign on billboards. On this stage, the artist presents pre-existing essays that have been rewritten in the lyrical manner of “hardstyle vocals.” The acoustic and visual overload typical of hardstyle – a combination of lyrics, electronic music, and visuals – inundates the audience with a multitude of stimuli. The artist is interested in exploring the influence of technology on mass experience.
